Street Ritual signals new ‘HORIZONS’ with 2022-in-preview compilation: VEIL, Dalek One, Duffrey, 5AM, & more

Street Ritual has a long, deeply embedded history in the underground bass scene. Dedicated to the heavy and seditious sounds of dubstep, halftime, drum-n-bass, leftfield, and kinetic psychedelia, the indie label has seen many stylistic trends come and go over the years. Through it all, their mission and spirit have remained the same as the next group of young, up-and-coming tastemakers step up to the plate. This is precisely what Street Ritual’s latest artist compilation is about. HORIZONS VA welcomes in the latest round of label newcomers, both veteran and rising producers alike!

Highlighting the shadowy spectrums of omnitempo bass music, HORIZONS pulls from deep and gritty dubstep, heavy halftime, and an expanding range of leftfield styles to tease what’s to come from Street Ritual in 2022. Filled with the underground’s most cherished bass-minded music makers and dreamers of dance floor dreams, this fierce and exploratory collaborative project is a voyage through the familiar into the dark space beyond the frontiers of experimental sound system music.

The album journey begins with the hypnotic musical stylings of Digital Vegabond, who is precise and deliberate in setting “The Mood” for the project. Chocked full of off-kilter production, including breakbeat tempos, worldly samples, and unbridled experimentation, this one-of-a-kind production is a truly “fungineered” blast-off point. From the album’s launching pad, HORIZONS moves in and out of many different territories of bass with an impressive cast of characters, including 5AM, Duffrey, Thought Process, XotiX, and more.

From Dalek One‘s gritty low-end contribution in “The Outcome” to jordnmoody and Ujuu‘s spaced-out collaboration, “TRANSMUTATE,” to Street Ritual label boss VEIL and dela Moon‘s high octane DnB-reminiscent experiment called “NYX,” the album is a face-flattening journey that is sure to have listeners moving on the dancefloor or moving in their seats.
