BRWN BEAR is getting ‘VERY WEIRD’ on LoFreq Records’ forthcoming ‘Cypher Vol. 3’ [Premiere]

Another year, another Cypher.

A new year means a new round of emergent bass music artists can be found on LoFreq Records. At the top of 2021, the San Francisco-based label released Cypher Vol. 2 to showcase a roster of new talent who were cutting through the noise with their uniquely impactful edge on bass music. CE was even so lucky as to interview LoFreq co-owner and West Coast bass artist Jalaya Frisella Kunst, who likes to think of each Cypher as a new “chapter in the story of [a] sneaky SpyBot.”

Now the third chapter in this futuristic spy-themed collection is soon coming to a head, but not before a few trippy selections are released to preview the new label compilation. Landing as the fourth track on Cypher Vol. 3 is BRWN BEAR‘s heavy contribution, “VERY WEIRD.” Rising up out of the Cincinnati bass scene, BRWN BEAR is an underground artist we’ve certainly had our eyes and ears on, which is why CE is thrilled to premiere the track today, January 26.

If the theme of Cypher is dark, heavy, forward-thinking bass music, then BRWN BEAR delivers the trippy sauce. Crafting a unique journey through low-end sound, “VERY WEIRD” is a tiny sampler into BRWN BEAR’s heavier side. The cut is rife with heavy synths, glitched basslines, and heavy kick snares. Clocking in at 2-minutes, the only thing we’re left with is wanting more.

Cypher‘s first two volumes had an overwhelmingly positive response with over 600,000 collective plays and featured artists like AHEE, Ravenscoon, Tripzy Leary, Xotix, Mythm, Matheny, and so many more artists who blasted into popularity over the years. So if the artists on Cypher Vol. 3 sound new and unfamiliar, rest assured that this new class of talent are names that will be in 2022 line-up marquees!

For anyone not familiar with BRWN BEAR, this multi-instrumentalist and producer is constantly on the hunt for the biggest sounds, deepest lows, and highest vibrations.
