Nick Wolfe is the man behind Wolf-e-Wolf. Suitable for the dancefloor and beyond, his tracks emit electrifying energy that revamp classic bass music themes with the wizardry of modern productions. With releases on 19K, Wakaan, Gravitas Recordings and Sleeveless Records, his tracks have received support from the likes of Liquid Stranger, Dirt Monkey, and Jantsen. Now he’s joining the MorFlo Records family. The label represents beat-drive creative catalysts sharing music and art to shine a light on those tapping into their free flow.

“I’ve been following Morflo’s journey for quite some time. I love how they push forward the melodic side of the bass music that’s often slept on by other labels and collectives. My team and I had been brainstorming the perfect label for this special EP and when Morflo was brought up, we instantly knew they were the right fit. All my interactions with their crew have always been very welcoming and positive. Feels like a group of like-minded people and I’m so stoked to join forces with them to share my next release with the world.”

For MorFlo’s latest Freeform bass release, the Mersiv-led imprint has teamed up with Arkansas-based producer, Wolf-e-Wolf, and his cutting-edge, three-track EP, Dream System. “For Dream System I really wanted each intro to have a fully atmospheric vibe that could paint a picture in your head of the world it belongs within,” say Wolfe in a press statement. He continues of his creative process,

“I’ve been working on this EP collectively for around two years. I often work on large batches of tunes, like 10 to 20 at a time and slowly piece together the ones that cohesively make sense as an EP or album. Sometimes I’ll start a track, knock out the main concept, sideline it for months, then come back to it with fresh ears and new techniques to push it across the finish line.”

The EP begins with “Deprogram,” which opens to inquisitive synths that preface the journey in sound to come. An ominous bassline offers magnetism to listeners as it lures you in with melodic sensibilities that end in a wompy, staticky drop.

Fellow visceral producer Illanthropy joins on the second track, “Chronos,” which further explores the adventurous, amorphous sonic structure of Dream System. “When illanthropy first brought up the idea of collaborating,” Wolfe says, “he sent me a batch of rough sketches he started. I immediately fell in love with the sketch that’s now been transformed into ‘Chronos.'”

“Wake Up” wraps up the EP, and offers the first vocal element on the project that sets the tone for a dreamy send off from Wolf-e-Wolf. Here, listeners will hear the endless possibilities of the Freeform genre – offering restrictionless textures that prompt movement and flow.
