Electric Consciousness 009: DETØX stops into the studio for an ID-laden all-original mix

This monthly mix series features artists on CE’s radar as they shape their growing discography, showcase what they’re currently listening to, and forecast what’s hot in the underground bass world.

With each new year, CE has got our eyes and ears glued on a new set of rising artists who seem primed for a breakout. Among those Top 10 Artists to Watch in 2022 is East Coast bass music producer James Dietrichson. The goal of his DETØX project has always been to help people understand both sides of life and who they are within it.

Intentional and grounded, yet fluid and adaptable, DETØX’s mindset on music creation is what makes him stand out most as an artist. Dietrichson expands on this vision exclusively with CE:

“Being a musician and listening to music has been one of the most transformative processes I’ve been through in my life. It’s not always rainbows and sunshine, it’s more of an uphill mental battle that will break you down and build you up. Its a way to heal from trauma while also facing what caused the wounds. That’s why I created DETØX, so people can have a safe place to heal together and to find acceptance with who they are.”

We invited DETØX into the studio to showcase his growing catalog and what he produced is a fiery all-original mix littered with 10 of his tracks that have yet to see the light of day. Also contained within the hour-long mix are a few of his hits, from “Ease Your Mind” to “Through The Silence” and more, along with a few of his favorites, including “Test,” “Something to Give,” and “Motions.” Strap in for this heavy listening journey as DETØX takes us through a sonic balancing act that aligns perfectly with this series.
