deadmau5 and Kaskade debut Kx5 project with stunning Hayla-assisted single, ‘Escape’

Following a decades-long and storied professional friendship, deadmau5 and Kaskade have now officially joined forces to form a unique collaborative union Kx5. The two powerful household names are marking their debut with the single “Escape,” featuring rising British singer-songwriter Hayla. Released jointly under deadmau5 and Kaskade’s respective labels, mau5trap and Arkade, “Escape” is an aspirational love song for the technological ages.

Beginning with stripped-back piano underscoring Hayla’s delicate vocal, “Escape” soon begins to swell into a pulsating electronic soundscape—a testament to the meticulous, multi-layered production that deadmau5 and Kaskade have built their reputations on. The track really takes flight on the anthemic chorus:“What if I escape with you?” Hayla belts over shiny synths. “Is it real, is it just a fantasy? ‘Cause the unknown, the unknown is pulling me.”

Back in July 2021, when lockdown restrictions were first letting up for the warm months, Kaskade made history as the first public concert performed at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium. The sold-out show featured a surprise set by deadmau5 and had the two artists reuniting again for a set to close the show. As Kx5, deadmau5 and Kaskade are primed to write their own history.

Look for Kx5 to make its live performance debut at EDC Las Vegas this May.
