RÜFÜS DU SOL release anthemic third single off forthcoming album
The excitement surrounding RÜFÜS DU SOL‘s forthcoming Solace album continues to mount. Today, they returns with the LP’s third single, “Lost in My Mind,” following “No Place” and “Underwater.”
The Australian trio premiered their latest single on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music Beats 1 to much fan fare. Laced with crawling synths, upbeat drum work, tribal-inspired vocal samples, a sultry anthemic quality, and a plethora of world elements, “Lost in My Mind” piggy-backs on the deep desert house vibe of their previous two releases.
The group says wrote the song on a two-day trip through Joshua Tree in California’s Mohave Desert.
“All the lyrics…were written in that [first] day and then the song pretty much formed over that two-day period. We went for a few little wonders in the desert like on these big rock outcrops and found some lyrics for a few of the other songs. And it’s scary man, it’s scary. I mean that’s what the song is about a little bit, just been content with like we’ve had some experiences out in the desert just sort of losing some of your friends and just being like you know what, I’m sweet.”
RÜFÜS sees “Lost in My Mind” as the first track to offer a deeper glimpse into the “different feelings of genres” explored on Solace, which the three have been diligently working on for the past year in Venice, California
“I think this is the start of people starting to hear a bit more of different shades to what the album is about to offer,” the band continued.
Solace is scheduled to drop this fall via Reprise Records. The full-length album will be accompanied by an expanded 25-date North American tour in October/November, with more cities to be announced, along with the addition of 8 European stops, beginning in November.
