Opiuo unveils live orchestral album with Syzygy Orchestra, ‘Live at Red Rocks’
Opiuo is on track to become the Hans Zimmer of the electronic music world.
Since erecting his wildly innovative Opiuo moniker, Oscar Davey-Wraight has graced world’s stages with his synth-led blend of glitch-hop, funk, and bass. What began as a bedroom act in 2007 has now evolved into an extremely diverse, immersive live experience that marries edgy electronic elements with a full-scale classical orchestra.
Shortly after releasing his Syzygy 01 EP, the NZ-based producer embarked on an album-accompanying tour with a hallmark performance at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater. This wasn’t just any “hallmark” performance of his career, however. The night would mark the unveiling of a never-before-done electronic/orchestra fused act featuring the incredible 20-piece Syzygy Orchestra arranged by Tom Hagerman.
Now from that very launch in late April comes Opiuo x Syzygy Orchestra’s new live accompaniment, dubbed “Live from Red Rocks,” which is out now via Slurp Music. Davey-Wraight transcends his already-accomplished producer profile as he leads a full house on those sacred rocks. The album guides listeners through seven remastered movements of carefully reworked electronic music, with the 20 piece Syzygy Orchestra right behind him.
