Clean Bandit release 16-track second album, ‘What Is Love?’
When Clean Bandit formed during their time at Cambridge in 2007, they had no idea at the time that their debut album would deliver six hit singles years later. In those early days, two of its members used to date and their lineup included a fourth member in Neil Amin-Smith.
The now three-piece British dance-pop band has since reached commercial supremacy, although they say they don’t want their music to sound like radio hits. Following up on their 2014 debut project, New Eyes, the “Real Love” trio has now delivered on their long-awaited second studio album, titled What Is Love?
The 16-track LP spans 24 guest vocalists, which include Marina, Luis Fonsi, Demi Lovato, Sean Paul, Anne-Marie, Charlie XCX, and Ellie Goulding. It’s a new direction for the London-based group, which attempts to infuse each track with spices of Latin, reggae and hip-hop. Interspersed with a dash of pop and a pinch of dance, Clean Bandit’s sophomore project proves it was well worth the wait.
