Minnesota releases ‘Curio Remixes’ EP with Esseks, um.., & more

When Minnesota released his highly-anticipated Curio EP in March, it marked his first deliverance of a significant body of work in four years. Indeed, his Voyager EP made fans come to expect a new short form project every year since Christian Bauhofer began releasing music in 2011. But the Minneapolis-to-Santa-Clara transplant has surely given fans a reason to appreciate his experimental, bass pounding productions.

Minnesota is now takes his newest EP further this fall with a remix package that sees Pigeon Hole, Esseks, Partywave, and um.. each giving their own unique spins on his WAKAAN-released project. From the churning rumbles of Pigeon Hole’s take on “Dark Crystal,” to the pulsating synth structures of Essek’s “Desert Diamond” redo, to the fierce drum-led break downs and electrifying build-ups of Partywave’s treatment of “Technique,” each official track champions the underground, experimental mentality of Minnesota innovative EP.

A standout track on the remix pack comes from um.. as the duo breaks down Minnesota’s “Technique” into intricate clicks and wobbles layered subtly amongst one another.

After seven years of touring and five innovative EPs under his belt, Minnesota continues to build momentum in the cutting-edge West Coast bass movement. We’d say it’s high time for a debut studio album, but all good things wired and wonderful come in due time.
