Rick and Morty season four teaser nods to EDM [WATCH]

There has always been a heavy portal hole between the electronic dance music hemisphere and the Rick and Morty multiverse. For some reason or another, the forward thinking nature of EDM culture seems to comport with the plausibly futuristic world of the Emmy-winning Adult Swim cartoon. Not to mention, the show is based on the same sound astrophysics principles that informs much of our pseudo-scientific spirituality.

Now Rick and Morty co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have released a teaser video to begin generating the hype around its next season, which fans have recently put out of their minds due the show’s season three finale end credits. In “The Rickchurian Mortydate,” Mr. Poopy Butthole addressed the audience directly: “See you for Season 4 in like… a really long time. I might even have a big, white Santa Claus beard.”

Thus the rumor was born that fans would be getting a long-anticipated season four holiday premiere, although some sources have attempted to discredit that theory. The teaser is incredibly short, but is worth mentioning since it lays down a heavy electro beat over some pixelated throwback digital animation. It seems Harmon and Roiland know their audience well and are tipping their hats to the world of electronic dance music.

After an intense negotiation battle with Adult Swim over its upcoming season, they announced 70 new Rick and Morty episodes earlier this year. The delayed announcement resulted in a reward for the fans’ patience, however, in the form of 14 episodes (instead of the usual 10). Some fan message boards have even spoken of a “confirmed” Sponge Bob Square Pants crossover episode in season four.

Whatever the case, the season premiere can’t come soon enough. Keep your fingers crossed for Christmas, but don’t get your hopes up.
