It’s been a turbulent past few months for Ultra Music Festival has faced on their quest for a new home. That’s not even the tip of the iceberg either. After being barred from a return to Bayfront, they faced hurdle after hurdle after hurdle, which naturally gave fans reason for worry. But let’s not forget this is also the festival who brought us a Swedish House Mafia reunion and was largely responsible for sparking the ember that ignited the Swedish superstar trios long-awaited reunion tour.
Now that the controversy is behind them and Ultra has landed safety at their new home in Miami’s Virginia Keys, it’s high time for 2019 line-up hype. Over a recent r/UMF subreddit, fans have already begun compiling a rather accurate list of artists who are expected to be on the line-up, whom are likely and unlikely to be confirmed, and those that are completely out of the running.
Included in the list of acts that are “pretty much expected” are David Guetta, Tiësto, Carl Cox, Martin Garrix, whose already been announced for UMF Australia and UMF South Africa, Armin Van Buuren, and Afrojack. Among those included in the “possible” list of artists to appear on the line-up include Skrillex, who plays BUKU the week prior, Alesso, whose already announced he’d be back on Sirius XM, and DJ Snake, whose played the marquee event for the past four years.
Artist named on the “out” short list fall into the category mainly because of radius clauses from already appearing at other Florida-based events, like Life In Color, or scheduling conflicts with Ultra’s confirmed dates on March 29-31, 2019.
While it is far too soon to officially confirm which artists are definitely “in” or “out,” it’s never too early for fan speculation. There are still many negotiations going on behind closed doors no doubt, and with the powerful booking talent of Ultra’s organizers, anything is possible. But, if nothing else, the accuracy with which Reddit users have mustered up here is quite impressive.
