The Chainsmokers set a new record with three singles to amass one billion Spotify streams
The Chainsmokers just set a new record by becoming the third artists in music history to have three singles on Spotify to amass more than one billion plays. They now sit behind Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber, who each have four.
The record-setting achievement arrived as their collaboration with Coldplay, “Something Just Like This,” surpassed the one billion streams mark. The two other previous songs to hit the mark were “Closer,” featuring Halsey, and “Don’t Let Me Down” with Daya.
It’s a notable accomplishment given how they are the first dance music artists to do so, although they’ve gone into a noticeably pop-driven direction. Not even Calvin Harris, who is the highest paid DJ in the world, or Marshmello, who recently set a notable record on Fortnite, have reached this point.
