Stream Skrillex’s first project in over seven years, ‘Show Tracks’ EP

Sonny Moore is certainly delivering on the promise he made to fans earlier this year. So far, the OWSLA head, known to the masses as Skrillex, has unleashed tons of new music after dropping off the map for a few years to help produce more behind the scenes. In 2019, however, Skrillex fans have been beyond blessed with a new Dog Blood EP after six years of silence, along with some heavy-hitting collaborations with JOYRYDE, Hikaru Utada, and TroyBoi, and remix of Kelsey Lu’s “Due West.”

Now Skrillex has released his first short-form sampler in over seven years. The two-track Show Tracks EP is every bit of bro-step magic one can expect from the pioneering act himself. Equipped with two crossover dubstep/hip-hop gems, the project sees longtime fan favored track, “Fuji Opener,” with Alvin Risk and a fresh new track, “Mumbai Power,” alongside rising Jamaican artist BEAM. Interestingly, many fans will recognize the Alvin Risk track as a newly mastered version of the ID track “Ping Pong,” which Skrillex has been dropping in his sets over the last year since returning to the festival mainstage.

There’s also a uniquely melodic flair to the two tracks that saves the release from mainstream doldrums, which harkens to the yonder days of Skrillex’s unique mixing skills. Certainly, Skrillex has made his imminent return with an entirely fulfilling new direction and fans are certainly ecited to see where the year takes him.
