Justin Jay illuminates a fun twist on Elephant Heart’s ‘Lenguas’

Justin Jay has been on a steady flow this year with illuminating releases that are chocked full of pure, fun-loving, kaleidoscopic frequencies. Known for his funky, tech-house beats mixed with organic rock rhythms and groovy psychedelia, his wildly original compositions provide an explorative journey all their own.

Now, following his critically-acclaimed cross-genre album, Everything Will Come Together Pt. 1, Justin Jay takes on Elephant Heart‘s “Lenguas.” Jay’s rinse arrives as part of the Los Angeles-based duo’s remix package for the track, which was originally released a month ago. To some, Elephant Heart may seem like newcomers onto the scene and, in some regards, they are. The husband-and-wife duo, composed of Jason and Victoria Evigan, made their live debut at Lightning in a Bottle’s 2018 installment, where they saw Justin Jay perform.

“We have been going to Lightning in a Bottle for years and have seen Justin play the Woogie Stage. We’ve also loved his vibe. We also love the Dirtybird crew and thought [the remix] would be a crazy and different collab,” says Elephant Hearts.

The collaborative pair are also established industry veterans, with the combined studio prowess of Jason, an award-winning producer whose worked alongside Madonna, Maroon 5, David Guetta, RÜFÜS DU SOL, ZHU, and Ellie Goulding, and Victoria, who serves as the group’s vocalist, songwriter, and lyricist.

Elephant Heart creates genre-bending music that pulls multicultural influences from far and wide, which is evidenced on the original track. When remixing “Lenguas,” Jay’s passion for energetic and strange musical patterns takes front and center. Scintillating arpeggios surround lyrical insertions and vocal distortion for a psychedelic rock-infused spin on an indie electronic stomper.
