Cashmere Cat announces new album on the way, ‘Princess Catgirl’

Not since Cashmere Cat‘s 2017 debut album, 9, have fans heard new recorded material from the Norwegian beatmaker. Now Magnus August Høiberg is preparing for the release of his sophomore studio album, which he is coyly calling Princess Catgirl.

In a series of tweets, he explains how he developed an alter-ego personae to combat his shyness on stage: “i guess you could say i was scared,” he shared. “so i created princess catgirl to be the face of my music. she makes me feel safe.”

It has all the bearings of a Porter Robinson/Virtual Self side-project and artistic concept. While the LP release hasn’t yet been given an official date, Cashmere Cat did announce the coming of the album’s first single in “Friday,” arriving appropriately on this Friday.

Cashmere Cat fans have duly noted that the album title has been teased for about a year now. One Reddit user even captured a photo of “Princess Catgirl” at one of his shows in November 2018.
