Burning Man announces official 2020 theme, the Multiverse
Anyone who frequents Burning Man‘s official online publication, Burning Man Journal, knows it resembles more of quantum philosophy text than a blog. The Nevadan temporary utopian gathering has just wrapped its 2019 event over ten days in August through early September. Now, less than a month later, organizers are already beginning to plan for next year’s event. Along with those beginning planning phases comes the official Burning Man 2020 theme, which will be “The Multiverse.”
The 2019 Burning Man centered on the theme of Metamorphoses, which invited Burners to embody ideals of change, transformation, uncertainty, evolution, and revolution. Next year, organizers encourage playa constituents to embrace the infinite possibilities of themselves, much like the infinite realms of existence in the multiverse. Meta, indeed.
The announcement was revealed over Burning Man’s socials, stating:
“The 2020 Burning Man event theme explores the quantum kaleidoscope of possibility, the infinite realities of the multiverse, and our own super positioning as actors and observers in the cosmic Cacophony of resonant strings. It’s an invitation to ponder the real, the surreal and the pataphysical, and a chance to encounter our alternate selves who may have followed, or are following, or will follow different decision-paths to divergent Black Rock City realities. Welcome to the Multiverse!”
