Electric Forest ringing in decade one at JJ Double Ranch with stellar initial line-up
For the Forest Family who’ve been at JJ Double Ranch since day one, they’ll tell anyone how ringing in “10 In The Forest” only comes around once. What started in 2008 as a modest jam band gathering, dubbed Rothbury Festival, has since ballooned into one of the most celebrated festivals in the world. It wasn’t actually until The String Cheese Incident (SCI) latched on that Electric Forest debuted in 2011. With the coveted jamtronica act at the helms ever since, the history of Sherwood Forest runs deep.
Perhaps that’s why anticipation surrounding the 2020 line-up has been at a fever pitch lately. Now attendees old and new can quell some of that excitement because Electric Forest HQ has just unveiled their 10th-anniversary line-up in Rothbury, Michigan. Taking place on its usual June 25-28 weekend, the Madison House and Insomniac-partnered event boasts Flume, Major Lazer, Big Gigantic, Louis The Child, Diplo, and The Disco Biscuits in the headlining spots. Of course, storied residents SCI and newly-seeded residential DJ, Bassnectar, grace the top lines as well.
Also joining the decade one line-up are plenty of tasty tier-two acts, including Big Wild, The Black Madonna, Boys Noize, CloZee, Gryffin, Petit Biscuit, Lotus, Tchami, Zomboy, and Subtronics for a second year straight. Of course, 2020 wouldn’t be a proper anniversary affair without longtime loyal returners like 12th Planet, G JONES, Golf Clap, The Glitch Mob, EOTO, and Lindsey Stirling—all of whom can consider themselves EF residents in some way or another.
As Forest has attempted to diversify its musical offerings over the years, this coming year is no different. 2020 welcomes Big Boi for the hip-hop heads as well as explosive newcomers like Rainbow Kitten Surprise for those with far-out indie-pop predilections. For the experimental bass music aficionados, there’s Bleep Bloop, EPROM, Wakaan favorites LSDREAM and Lucii, Of The Trees, UK bass godfather Rusko, Mr. Carmack, and heavy newcomers Mersiv and Kursa. Whatever one’s musical pallet may crave, Electric Forest certainly has it all. So much so that it would be impossible to list all the stellar acts on the initial 2020 line-up.
Tickets for Electric Forest’s 10th-anniversary celebration will go on sale beginning tomorrow, December 4, through Friday, December 6. Learn about loyalty code information to see when the general on-sale begins for you!
