ATTLAS unveils ‘Sinner Complicated,’ first single ahead of debut album [WATCH]
Over the course of the past four years, ATTLAS has become one of mau5trap’s most celebrated artists. Canadian musician Jeff Hartford’s enthusiasm for music began at a young age, he grew up playing in bands and learning instruments like piano, trumpet, and guitar. His immersion into songwriting continued to grow on deadmau5’s label, where he began showcasing the textured, introspective sound he’s spent years cultivating.
Now ATTLAS gifts listeners with “Sinner Complicated,” a whirring six-minute ride that signals both his final offering of the decade and the first offering from his forthcoming debut album, Lavendar Gold. An intoxicating narrative, “Sinner Complicated” comes as a stunning progressive treat and also acts as the album’s lead single. The track entices with intricate percussive elements, dynamic synth work, lush soundscapes, and whistful, crescendoing melodies. As the song continues to evolve, a symphony of electronic notes converge, creating an unfettered musical atmosphere featuring the best of what we love from ATTLAS.
ATTLAS calls the track “a textured and atmospheric rollercoaster that progresses with narrative intention from the beginning. It’s a good first introduction to the album as well – the melodies through both the track and album are much more a result of live performance, and the arrangements let their energies ebb and flow with an almost restless spirit.”
Accompanying the track is an otherworldly 3D motion graphic video shot by @iamcyclo. Catapulting deep into the mind’s eye, the video is a sonic journey through psychotomimetic patterned colorways. It’s the perfect visual pairing to ATTLAS’s wondrous back sound.
