Calvin Harris has new music on the way for Coachella 2020 performance
If there’s one thing Calvin Harris has become known for it, it’s always being a man of his word. The Scottish dance-pop crossover sensation recently hosted an informal, mini-Q&A with a few fans over his Twitter account. During that time, Harris revealed that he has new music coming ahead of his Coachella performance. Considering the last time he was in Indio Valley, where the dance music icon pulled one of the biggest crowds the Empire Polo Club has ever seen, new music is just the thing fans are wanting.
Moreover, Harris revealed that the new music may arrive a lot sooner than fans think. From the sound of it, Harris looks to be putting some finishing touches on his his new music in the studio. However, it’s unclear whether Calvin plans to release the new music in the form of a few one-off single releases, a short player, or full album.
Fans can expect a completely new vibe from the impending release. After all, Harris’ fifth studio album, Funk Wave Bounces Vol. 1, signaled a drastic departure from his signature sonic oeuvre towards a most post-disco/boogie aesthetic. Since its 2017 release, he’s been rather shy on releases. Early 2019 saw Harris team with Rag’n’Bone Man on “Giant.” Though before that, a handful of hits in 2018 were the only holdover fans received since. One must not forget his Sam Smith collaboration, “Promises,” that became a top hit of that year.
However, when asked about a follow-up project for Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, Harris says it likely won’t be arriving during this decade. Considering how Calvin Harris has previously said he’s trying to move away from the “EDM” sound, fans can surely expect whatever is on the horizon to be a completely new vibe.
