Mija shares title track to debut full-length album, ‘Desert Trash’
Hailing originally from Phoenix, Mija is one DJ/producer who has been pushing the boundaries of her style and ethos for quite some time. It’s an artistic evolution that began in 2018 and has come so far that her original works are almost indistinguishable now. Following her live tour last year, which featured the bass producer singing for the first time, the OWSLA favorite is now primed for her debut full-length artistic concept album, Desert Trash.
To mark the occasion, Mija has released the first single off the LP by the same name. Marked by unmistakably 90s attitude, and set in the desert of El Paso, Texas, “Desert Trash” explores acoustic textures, vulnerable lyricism, charming strings, and harmonic tones. Not to mention, all these elements are flanked by Mija’s own original writing, vocals, instrumentation, and production efforts. What is perhaps most impressive is how Mjia explores feelings of loneliness and isolation by wearing these aesthetics like a heart on her sleeve.
The single is accompanied by by a new lyric video, with art direction from Quasar Media, that plays out more like a music video. Not only does it reveal the next phase in Mija’s career development, it offers ore proof that she is one artist who refuses to be pinned down or pigeonholed.
