MUST LISTEN: Claude VonStroke delivers five unreleased ‘Freaks and Beaks’ tracks on Pete Tong’s Essential Mix
Claude VonStroke is a man who doesn’t stop for his beloved Dirtybird flock. The Los Angeles-based producer and Dirtybird-in-Chief already has a monumental 2020 ahead of him. He has plans to release his fourth studio album, Freaks and Beaks, amidst Dirty Records’ fifteenth anniversary that he announced with a whole slew of events on the year.
To mark the occasion, VonStroke has a full year of celebrating to do with his usual run of events: a five-city Dirtybird BBQ run, a three-day Dirtybird Campout, and his urban Birdhouse Festival, which is moving from Chicago to Los Angeles this year. Not to mention, two new Florida-based events: a Dirtybird showcase during Miami Music Week and the Dirtybird CampINN in Orlando, which replaces Dirtybird Campout East.
Before any of that takes place, Claude is utilizing his time in the studio well before heading out on the road all year. The Dirtybird helmer recently stopped by Pete Tong’s Essential Mix for two full hours of tech-house fluency. It’s not VonStroke’s first time stopping by the BBC Radio 1 labs either. He’s a seasoned veteran of the BBC airwaves, to be sure. Although he hasn’t graced Pete Tong‘s decks with his signature Dirtybird flair and 120-bpm techniques since 2013.
During his triumphant return, Claude VonStroke delivers a whopping five unreleased tracks from his forthcoming full-length. Besides being rinsed out live on the road, these are Freaks and Beaks tracks that haven’t yet heard the light of day. Three solo originals see their wider debut with “Flubblebuddy,” “Session A,” and “Freaks Don’t Fail Me Now.” Then VonStroke drops in with a stunning Catz ‘n Dogz collaboration, titled “How I Make You Feel,” along with “Waddaday,” which features Dirtybird label mate ZDS.
