Winter Music Conference cancelled following Florida state of emergency declaration
The 35th edition of Miami’s Winter Music Conference (WMC), which takes place annually in the time leading up to Ultra, has been canceled over the rising coronavirus pandemic. The news follows Florida Governor Ron Desantis’ declaration of a public health emergency on Monday, March 9. The tough decision was made under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Interim Guidance, organizers reported. WMC had been scheduled for next week, March 16-19.
“After spending the past ten months preparing for the event with our team, panelists and event partners, we are profoundly disappointed,” WMC announced over their social channels. “[H]owever, there is nothing more important than the health, safety and physical well-being of our attendees and employees.
WMC is the latest major music event cancellation of 2020 due to the growing coronavirus pandemic, starting with Ultra Abu Dhabi, Ultra Miami, Tomorrowland Winter, South By Southwest, and Coachella. Despite both Ultra and WMC being postponed util 2021, Miami Music Week will still take place between March 16-22.
