Elon Musk suggests turning Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory into a ‘mega rave cave’
Berlin is venerable for its strong techno scene. The city is also the future home of the Tesla Gigafactory, which is currently under construction and expected to open in summer 2021. That’s why, amid of Coachella cancellation rumors due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted out a poll asking if his company should host a “mega rave cave” in Germany. When the South African entrepreneur’s followers began tweeting back asking what exactly that meant, Elon responded that it would be outfitted “with an epic sound system & woofers the size of a car.” A Tesla car, no doubt.
The poll came just one day after tweeting, “Coachella should postpone itself until it stops sucking.” He then harped on the festival for becoming over-commercialized and not having unheard of bands any longer. The string of tweets would suggest that Musk is saying he could do it better. Considering his eclectic dance music taste, his eye for spotting emergent breakout stars, and even his own production credits, the idea of a rave factory suddenly become not as far-fetched.
It’s worth noting that 90 percent of his followers voted a resounding “yes” for the move, so Musk could very well be taking it as a signal to move beyond the idea phase. Or not.
