San Holo & Broods release remix package for ‘Honest’
The hit record now earns remixes from Lunice (of TNGHT), 220 KID, and Midnight Kids.
When San Holo linked up with Broods‘ Georgia Nott back in February, the duo gave the dance music world something truly special with “Honest.” Peaking at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100, the track touches on authenticity, false expectation, and self-preservation. Not to mention, the music video was really something special in bringing this substance to the surface. Now the bitbird label head and Broods’ lead singer have tapped three producers for three soaring official remix treatments.
Released under the Astralwerks arm, the “Honest” remixes sees Midnight Kids, Lunice, and 220 Kid in full landing gear. Montreal-based producer Lunice, who co-founded TNGHT with Hudson Mohawke, brings exotic, nocturnal shadings to the song, using a mix of various tribal instruments and experimental touches. Acclaimed UK artist 220 Kid bolsters the track’s inherent buoyancy in an upbeat house reimagining while The Midnight Kids brings a whole new realm of euphoric energy to the track. Their remix, which was released last month, was included in our monthly Remix Radar round-up as a top highlight.
While San Holo initially conceived the song, “Honest ” ultimately it became a collaborative effort with Broods’ Georgia Nott and San Holo’s co-writers, Kyle Shearer and Nate Campany, joining forces. Now the world of “Honest” expands a little bit further.
