Illenium and X Ambassadors’ powerhouse track gets a stripped-back, acoustic version
Those who have been following Illenium since the beginnings may remember seeing Nick Miller opening sets in Denver when there were no more than ten people in the crowd. Then seeing Miller open for his manager’s side project, Triad Dragons, where fans effectively turning out in drones, more so to see Illenium and best friend Said The Sky than the actual headliner. That’s the moment when the Illenium project truly gained momentum. Even his manager saw it, and this is a guy who brought Krewella to the top.
Fast forward a few years and Illenium is regularly welcoming sold-out shows at Red Rocks and Madison Square Garden and reaching RIAA Platinum status with his Jon Bellion-assisted “Good Things Fall Apart.” The song, which was housed on Illenium’s third studio LP, Ascend, was also home to many other melodic “sad boy” gems, including “In Your Arms” with X Ambassadors. Now “In Your Arms” has recieved a brand-new treatment in the form of a stripped-back, acoustic version — and the re-touch shows a new and wholly different side of Illenium without all of the synthesizer glitz and electronic glam.
At his December 2019 sold-out Staples Center show in Los Angeles, Illenium was joined by Sam Harris of X Ambassadors to perform the track. “In Your Arms” has since surpassed 91 million global streams, so the new version couldn’t come at a more opportune time. Then again, that’s Astralwerks for you.
