Flying Lotus shares deluxe version of ‘Flamagra’ rife with instrumental cuts

Hard to believe that Flying Lotus (real name Steve Ellison) has already come up on a year since the release of his sixth studio album, Flamagra. The album, released May of last year, became an instant classic, blending electronica, jazz, and hip-hop flavors to a titillating degree. It also showcased Flying Lotus’ versatility and range as one of the most highly-thoughtful crossover artists in the music industry.

The Grammy Award-nominated producer has now shared a deluxe edition of the LP. Clocking in at a total of 54 cuts—exactly double the album’s original 27—the Deluxe version comes complete with instrumentals of every vocal-laden track, which include some rather prominent vocalists in Thundercat, Anderson .Paak, George Clinton, Toro y Moi, Solange, Little Dragon, Tierra Whack, Denzel Curry, and more.

“Whereas the original album featured a dream cast of vocal collaborators, this project places the masterful arrangements, electronics and musicianship at the forefront—a treasured peak under the hood of one of today’s most consistently innovative producers,” said the flying lotus camp in a press statement.
