Kasbo releases debut track ‘Play Pretend’ from forthcoming sophomore album

A year without Kasbo‘s stunningly imaginative music is not a year we’d ever want to imagine. Since the release of his gorgeous debut album, Places We Don’t Know, the Swedish indie-electronic producer has been wholly absent from the dance music imagination due to a sudden hearing loss that sparked a depression in the artist. Beyond releasing “I Get You” in late 2019, Kasbo has been taking time to focus on his mental health and physical wellbeing.

Thankfully, Kasbo is back in the studio and working on his sophomore album, The Making of a Paracosm, which is set to land in October. To celebrate the news, Kasbo has given fans his first release of 2020 and his first in almost a year. The single, “Play Pretend,” featuring Ourchives is available now on Foreign Family Collective / Counter Records, which is part of Ninja Tune. The dual universe theme in “Play Pretend” is a nod to the larger message across his forthcoming album. As we all look to escape from reality, Kasbo invites us to get lost in his world of fiction and find comfort in nostalgia.

Last year Kasbo opened for arena headliners ODESZA on their sold-out tour and has played his own shows at LA’s Fonda, NYC’s Bowery Ballroom, and festivals like Coachella, Firefly, etc.
