It’s been a tough year for the Burning Man organizers; between struggles against the federal government and the unfortunate but necessary cancellation of their 2020 event, the beloved gathering is facing real financial struggles for their 2021 build of Black Rock City. However, the decades-long tradition is not going down easily, and they’ve launched a crowdfunding campaign dedicated to preserving the festivities.
“With your support, we will continue to offer opportunities to share your creativity and passions and, above all else, stay connected with others in these challenging times,” Organizers write on their donation page. “Kindling is your portal to experience convenings that provide rich live, online content. We will continue our commitment to Burners Without Borders, whose work is more critical today than ever before, Fly Ranch, and the 2019 Sustainability Roadmap — essential to reducing our reliance on fossil fuel use at BRC.”
While an online Burning Man portal is available, it’s no substitute for the real deal, and organizers are counting on the generosity of Burners for support. And naturally, no donation is too large or small, but they do ask that those who are able to donate the price of a ticket–$475. One time or recurring donations can be made. Those interested can read the full statement and donate here.
