Diplo delivers deep house set from Joshua Tree [WATCH]
Diplo is perhaps the music industry’s busiest man. In 2020 alone, he’s popped up everywhere from the Democratic National Convention (DNC) to numerous quarantine livestreams, to releasing his first-ever ambient album in MMXX. He’s even dipped his toes into country music with his Thomas Wesley alias.
Now the dance music mogul is turning his sights back on his deep house focused label, Higher Ground, with a newly-recorded live-streamed set from the Californian deserts of Joshua Tree. As a Mad Decent sub-label focused around house music, the Diplo-run imprint has released music from Walker & Royce, Kyle Watson, and many more.
The hour-and-fifteen-minute stream comes from a recent virtual Higher Ground event, dubbed Transmissions From Diplo. As the hot sun turns to cool desert night, Diplo fittingly dons his cowboy hat and threads while taking to the decks at sunset. The performance delivers plenty of gems, including Dusky‘s “Justified,” Kölsch and Tiga‘s “HAL,” an MK remix of he and SIDEPIECE‘s “On My Mind,” and plenty of Diplo IDs, Major Lazer tracks, and house greats to boot.
Up next for Diplo is a live stream on September 16, 2020, where the Higher Ground head will deliver one of his very first ambient MMXX sets. Proceeds will directly benefit the California wildfire relief efforts.
