Midweek Mantra Mix 051: New producer daggz releases spiritually enhanced debut Mix
Wednesday is humpday, which not only marks the halfway point between the work week and the coveted weekend, but also Conscious Electronic’s Midweek Mantra Mix (M3). We’ve been scouring the web’s most enlightening bass music mixes that align with our vision, to provide “a conscious way to consume dance music.” M3 spotlights both veteran and up-and-coming bass music artists whose music seeks to raise the vibrations of their collective listener base.
If 2020 has allowed for anything, it’s the chance for new and rising artists to shine like never before. The industry move to the internet has leveled the playing field, giving fresh producers a chance to connect with a brand new audience. One such producer is DAGGZ (real name Ryan Daggs), a Rochester, New York bound bass artist inspired by Eastern wisdom.
DAGGZ may be just releasing his first few original tracks, but he’s been spinning decks at clubs and small shows for years to steadily build up a working knowledge of crafting sets. As well as creating music and being gifted with a camera, he’s also an industry professional with firsthand experience curating events. In keeping with underground trends, his musical sounds are deep, worldly bass with major experimental vibes and creative remixing. However, he stands out as unique by tying those sounds in with a deeply spiritual element– layered dialogues of deeper truth. From revolutions of consciousness to mythology, there’s sure to be something that resonates with different listeners.
His debut mixtape, which premiered via the Taiga Collective as part of their Guest Mix series, is a stunning thirty-minute project that deftly handles slinky bass with thought provoking vocals. It features three DAGGZ originals, one collaboration, and remixes of artists including CloZee, Digital Ethos, Eprom, and VCTRE. It dips and soars expertly throughout without missing a beat, hinting that this producer may be one to watch for the future. As the world continue’s on it’s spiritual awakening, it becomes more and more important to consume content that’s both meaningfully made and consciously attuned– and this creation more than fits the bill.
