Alison Wonderland releases stunning new single + music video for ‘Bad Things’
Rising up from small venue events in 2013 to global main stages, Alison Wonderland has become a true master of her craft over the course of her career. When she moved into using her own vocals and playing the cello live on stage is when Wonderland began to develop a huge cult following that catapulted her into a household name. In 2020, though, Los Angeles-based, Australia-bred artist has been rather silent in terms of new releases. Until now.
Coming in as her first new music of the year, Alison Wonderland has released her new single, “Bad Things,” a deeply personal song that she says is about “confronting your demons and dealing with them.” Honest and stunningly vulnerable, the track features a bruised string section circling her earworm vocal, ahead of a tough and blissful drop, and showcases Wonderland’s expert handle on light and shade. Close followers of Wonderland will also recognize the tune closely since Wonderland debuted the song during her Virtual Lollapalooza set, which took place the last weekend of July 2020.
Directed by Peter Don and produced by Satien Mehta, the “Bad Things” music video was filmed on location at an eerie rustic ranch in Santa Clarita, California. Like the song, the video accompaniment explores themes of dealing with one’s demons. The record also marks the first single from Alison Wonderland’s forthcoming album, planned for 2021.
