Watch the official music video for Surf Mesa and Gus Dapperton’s ‘Somewhere’
Surf Mesa and Gus Dapperton have shared the official music video for their single, “Somewhere.” In the visual, the two artists are enjoying a ride in the country – until a car crash sends them on a detour to purgatory in the official video for their single “Somewhere.” Their spirits are drawn to an isolated house and a mysterious woman – played by model/actress Havana Liu – who lures them inside.
Director Dane Ray teams up with director of photography Jesse Bronstein to evoke sleek 80s thriller films that mirror the track’s pulsating out-of-body essence, using double dolly shots to simulate ghost-like movement. The video was shot in the historic town of Stony Point, north of New York City, where centuries ago, the Battle of Stony Point proved to be a turning point in the Revolutionary War.
“Somewhere” is the follow-up to Surf Mesa’s Gold-certified hit, “ily (i love you baby),” featuring Emilee.
