With the US handling of the Coronavirus pandemic essentially stealing summer festival season right from under everyone’s noses, it can be hard to be optimistic about the state of the live music industry. Still, several promoters and event companies have tried to adapt to these socially-distanced times. Drive-ins and limited capacity seated events are the “new normal” nowadays. Right in line with this new culture comes ReVibe Wellness Retreat 2020, a first-of-its-kind CDC-compliant vertical music event on the east coast.
The innovative new conceptual experience is made for today’s current COVID climate and will be taking place Halloween weekend, October 30-31, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The two-day event will take into account all of the obstacles humans face in a pandemic by allowing event-goers to view all music performances from the safety of their hotel room and balcony. In addition, ticket buyers have the option to add on a VIBE BOOTH, a socially distanced marked off area that is directly in the hotel courtyard, on the opposing side’s stage to get a full taste of the array of talent over the weekend.
The weekend will host two stages boasting performances from some of the top names in electronic dance music, such as Mersiv, Shlump, TRUTH, Wreckno, BUKU, and many more on the bass-focused Frequency Stage. For the funkier pallets, Manic Focus, SoDown, Break Science, Michal Menart, Russ Liquid, Daily Bread, and Marvel Years will headline the Vibe Stage. Even the undercard is stacked, with Brightside, Mad Pritch, Angelic Root, NotLö, Super Future, Fryar, and more in the bass arena and Maddy O’Neal, Late Night Radio, Artifakts, and more on the funk stage.
The weekend is all about being not only conscious of the current health crisis,” said organizers in a press release, “but active in enforcing rules that will keep everyone safe while simultaneously being one of the first chances for fans to consume live music this year. The team at Cliffhanger Productions and Zeal Collective has been working closely and consistently with Hilton’s team, the local authorities and code enforcement, and the surrounding township to curate an environment where guests will feel secure and free of any worry.”
In addition to ensuring proper safety precautions during/between sets, this retreat will also be enforcing a myriad of other methods to ensure the well-being of guests, artists, and staff. These methods include mandatory masks throughout the property, proper social distancing, and taking temperatures at check-in. The event will also host workshops and other opportunities during the festival for attendees to engage in meditation, yoga, and other wellness practices.
