Following on the heels of his revered Closer 2 U EP, Slow Magic announces a brand new album, it’s the end of the world, but it’s ok. To celebrate the LP announcement, Slow Magic released the project’s leading track, “Carry On,” featuring Paperwhite, which is out now via Manila Killa’s Moving Castle.
An honest testament to trying times, Slow Magic and Paperwhite weave words and sounds of empowerment in “Carry On.” Poignant and made for the times, “Carry On” sees Slow Magic lending his lustrous emotive soundscapes to a spirit-lifting lead single. Signature Slow Magic synths and drum patterns create a warm blanket of positivity as Paperwhite sings affirmations of “If the stars burn out tonight we’re gonna carry on.” For a world in crisis, Slow Magic’s music is a constant reminder to look inward and to the future, and to find solace in carrying on.
‘Carry On’ came from a session with Katie Marshall from Paperwhite and Jeremy Silver in 2019. Coincidentally enough, the concept I was working on at the time for it’s the end of the world, but it’s ok., was a post-apocalyptic narrative where the focus was on getting through it and striving toward what was ahead. I had no idea the lyrics we came up with that day would ring so true in 2020. The line ‘If the stars burn out tonight we’re gonna carry on’ really echoes what I see happening all around the world right now amid such crazy times: people are carrying on with their lives and it is beautiful to see.”Slow Magic
Slow Magic continues to solidify his position as a creative tastemaker within the indie and electronic space. His forthcoming it’s the end of the world, but it’s ok. LP proves as much as the artist explores motifs of uncertainty, community, resilience, and communication. The album marks Slow Magic’s fourth studio album, following his 2017 Float. Stay tuned for more singles, and the full album releasing Wednesday, December 9.
