FuntCase launches DPMO label, shares ‘Corruption’ EP as imprint’s first release
The man, the mask, the UK dubstep legend FuntCase (James Hazell) has taken one recent huge career step in adding label owner to his long-winded résumé. The Bournemouth-born electronic music DJ/producer has just announced the launch of his independently-run label, DPMO. Given how FuntCase has been hitting us with devilish dubstep and raucous riddim since 2017, DPMO’s mission is to be a brand as recognizable and fearsome as the label boss himself. The series of compilations on Circus Records have been showcasing international emerging talent, cherrypicked by Hazell himself. Cherrypicked with the violent sound and attitude fans have come to know and love from FuntCase’s signature sound.
The imprint’s first release is here, the Corruption EP. FuntCase has teamed up with some of the stars of DPMO: Versa on the absolute scene-destroying “Welcome Tune,” Yakz, whose “Fuck Off” was a highlight of DPMO Vol. 3, Jkyl & Hyde, who previously collaborated with FuntCase for “Bounce,” and Stoned LeveL, who brought the world “Punishment” earlier in 2020. Rival also jumps on the new FuntCase x Yakz tune with a blazing vocal to really push the levels higher.
Friday, December 4, FuntCase and the DPMO family are throwing a virtual label launch party with Insomniac’s Bassrush. Starting at 8 pm PST, fans can enjoy sets from FuntCase, Jkyl & Hyde, Sweettooth, and Yakz. Watch the livestream here.
