Mfinity releases explorative downtempo bass track, ‘Through The Lens Of The Forest’
Nick Neeley, hailing from DC with roots in the suburbs of Ohio, is the talented soul behind the Mfinity project. Drawing inspiration from the sounds of Tycho and Boards of Canada, Neeley fuses forward-thinking melodic soundscapes with an array of unique organic sound design that is sure to move your soul as much as the dance floor. Blending the aspects of downtempo and chill-out influences with modern bass synthesis, Mfinity sticks true to his name – an ever-evolving sound with an infinite array of sonic experiences. With an eclectic choice of divinely inspired soundscapes and a focus on a spiritual connection with nature, his sound encourages self-reflection and internal exploration.
We got the chance to sit down with Neeley in which he explained where he plans to take the Mfinity project:
“For 2021 I plan on having a few more releases with High Vibe Records, leading up to my debut EP with them. I really feel like I’ve found a little home with the people over there. Over the last couple of years, I feel like I’ve been searching for somewhere that fits my sound and future goals, and I don’t think I could’ve found a more organic and supportive community. For right now, I’m continuing to chisel away and craft my own sound. During all this downtime It’s been fun pushing my comfort zones with sound design and different arrangement styles. For when shows finally come back, I’m super excited to put together some sets that focus on telling a story all the way through. I think all the live streams over the course of the pandemic have shown that vibes and storytelling leave more of an impact than hype does, so that’s definitely what I’ll be planning.”

Following up on his most recent release, “Celebration of Life,” during the later months of 2020, Mfinity shows that he plans to take this project in a multitude of sonic directions. Neeley focuses on exploring a pallet of multi-genre aesthetics that is bringing electronic music to new places while retaining a nostalgic sense of familiarity. Experimentation and emotional storytelling are the core elements of the project; Neeley continues:
“In most of my tracks, I try and capture the emotion or mood I was feeling at that point in time. This whole year has been a huge roller coaster of emotions and events, and throughout everything going on around me I’ve just tried to stay positive and continue to look for the light at the end of the tunnel. This track to me is just a reminder to keep pushing when things get tough and to keep breathing. Things could always be worse, so there’s no reason to sweat the small stuff.”

Released through our dear friends at High Vibe Records, this track stands as a beautiful introduction into the collective and shows a wonderful direction for where both the label and Mfinity are going. Be sure to be on the lookout for more releases from these projects as they will be releasing more thought-provoking sounds and surely will be solidifying their place in the electronic music world in 2021.
