Wakaan has been cornering the market of rising bass music acts lately. Today, the Liquid Stranger headed record label welcomes a new talent trifecta into their weird and wonderful family of left-field bass creators. Two Indianapolis up-and-comers, Wreckno and Ujuu, have joined together with San Diego-based producer jordnmoody on a cheeky new bop, entitled “FTSU.”
The tune, which has been teased all month, features Wreckno’s usual cheeky rhymes lead the way as his verses float atop a minimalist bass-heavy sound design. Sometimes, the real beauty lies in the most simple of sounds and ‘FTSU’ is the crown jewel of this theory. The tune almost resembles Snoop Dogg’s infamous 2004 hit, ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot,” with its hyphy lyrics, subdued whomps, catchy top lines, and overall West Coast hip-hop feel.
The only downside to the track is that it clocks in at just over two minutes, making for the perfect transition song in any of the three producers’ live sets. Now all that is needed is a return to live shows. The three also released a self-recorded FaceTime video, which seems to be becoming a common Wreckno aesthetic and a highly appropriate way to record music videos during quarantine. There is something authentically underground about this videography style as well.
