TroyBoi returns with an explosive fourth iteration of his ‘V!BEZ’ EP series
TroyBoi is back with another experimental and fresh spin on trap music, which takes the form of his long-anticipated V!BEZ 4. The London-based producer has been lending his musical talents to artists for nearly a decade, but is most well known for his namesake project that serves to redefine what trap is. Bursting onto the electronic scene in 2015, TroyBoi was an instant hit with singles like “Afterhours,” a high-octane Diplo collaboration, and “‘W2L (Welcome to London).” Serving his fans raunchy drops and sexy signature baselines on a silver platter, TroyBoi’s sound cannot be missed or duplicated.
Following three epic previous chapters, including the most recent praised V!BEZ 3, the fourth V!BEZ installment comes correct with unexpected samples, and production that one just can’t help but dance to. Filling the shoes of cult-favorite tracks from earlier iterations ofV!BEZ, like “Do You?” and “Papi Chulo,” is no easy feat. Rest assured, though, thatTroyBoi delivers from the jump and doesn’t let up the whole way through.
Starting off the album is “Bellz” samples from Anita Ward’s 70s classic “Ring my Bell,” which TroyBoi translates into a sultry electronic ditty with a bouncing bassline that begs to be played on repeat. Nina Sky is back for another feature in “Eyez on Me” with sexy vocals that complement the bass-heavy production. TroyBoi’s deeply recognizable signature sounds can be heard on the Latin-inspired Tropkillaz collaboration, “Corneta,” and bouncy tune “Baby,” while “Unstoppable” is an unexpected and genre-bending banger that reminds TroyBoi’s fans that trap isn’t all he’s mastered. A long time favorite, “On My Own,” finally finds its way onto a release and it is just as captivating today as it was six years ago when it first graced YouTube.
Finishing off the track-list with a jazzy downtempo number, “Clear Waters” showcases TroyBoi’s insane range and acts as the musical equivalent of an after-dinner drink that rounds out the entire meal. V!BEZ 4 truly has something for even the most discerning of music enthusiasts to enjoy and we cannot wait to see what TroyBoi comes up with next.
