Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, Subtle is one rising bass name who refuses to go unnoticed. As opening support for Tsuruda, Wreckno, Fryar, Shatter, Meduso, and more, the Midwest artist incorporates gritty atmospheres with infectious riffs that will embed themselves deep into the mind of any bass music connoisseur.

Subtle’s latest track, which CE is proud to be premiering today, arrives as the twelfth and final single on Saturate Records‘ compilation, HALFTONE, with Wavecraft Collective. The collaborative LP also features the likes of SEDA, Dead End, Mahsiv, Low Poly, and many more.

“Don’t Play” is a gratuitous serving of eerie low-end bass sounds that strike deep into the nerve center of the brain. The track itself calls on influences from drum-n-bass, hip-hop, and halftime to bring a sense of nostalgia and familiarity to its listeners. Speaking to the premiere of “Don’t Play,” Subtle told us the following:

“Since I started producing music, I had always wanted to work with Saturate and have been a long time listener for years. I was approached about releasing a track on the collaborative album HALFTONE and couldn’t say no. It’s been a pleasure to be a part of this and doing so alongside great artists and friends. “

Subtle is deeply embedded into one of the underground bass music community’s finest music collectives at Wavecraft. He has recently released “Snakes” on their latest compilation, Wavecraft Collective Book of Shadows Pt. 2, and a collaboration titled “Watch This” with Lavier that was released on WTF’s That Sound earlier this year.
