One month ago, Madeon teased a new collab during a DJ set at Austin’s Concourse Project for NYE. Barely into the new year, the single immediately became one of the most anticipated tracks for 2024.

Madeon had just wrapped up his tour and sophomore project, Good Faith, and had announced he would be taking a “gap year” on his social media in regards to releasing new music, so the collaboration comes as a pleasant and welcome surprise. During the NYE set, Madeon shared, “This is a collaboration between me and my two favorite artists… I’m so fucking excited” before welcoming Wavedash onto the stage. Wavedash then revealed that the trio collaboration would also feature Toro Y Moi and that the title was “All Ur Luv”. Wavedash also shared that this track will be appearing on their soon-to-be-released mixtape, Tempo.

The bouncy and funky track has touches of 80s Prince, Good Faith, and even a bit of Madeon’s earlier sound. Silky and luscious vocals by Madeon and Toro y Moi flow over an effervescent bassline. A few days ago on X, Madeon shared that he contributed vocals to the track, stating that it is a duet and he sang the second verse and pre-chorus. Listeners can distinctly hear the touches of Wavedash and Toro Y Moi throughout the upbeat single, and can look forward to ushering in the arrival of summer 2024 with the sensual beat (Porter Robinson tweeted that summer came early!). Madeon also revealed that the ending was an improvised Good Faith Forever-style synth.

Wavedash, who have been moving away from the harder, electronic sound that became their signature early in their career, seem to be moving toward a groovier, synth sound. Of the collaboration, they had the following to say:

“‘All Ur Luv’ is, in our eyes, what making music is all about. Five unlikely collaborators & friends coming together to make a beautiful piece of music that, in some ways, is bigger than the sum of its parts. I don’t believe anyone else on earth could have made this song; without our flip of the original sample, or Madeon’s master-level pop writing, or Chaz’s ability to churn out earworms with ease, this song couldn’t have been possible. It’s been the most fun we’ve ever had making a piece of music, so we hope you’ll enjoy listening to it half as much as we enjoyed making it because we had a ball.”

Toro y Moi also had sentiments to share about the funky collab:

“This song is pure love. We all met at Porter Robinson’s festival, I was floored by both Madeon and Wavedash’s sets, the energy was amazing. When making this song after seeing how much energy their shows are I wanted to write a song that would uplift a room. This song is about being patient with love, when things feel dull remember it’s not forever…it comes in waves.”
