The music video has all the makings of The Beatle’s “Yellow Submarine.”
LSD, the joint project made up of Labrinth, Sia, and Diplo, continues rolling out their superstar-powered trifecta with a masterfully-produced music video to follow up their third single, “Thunderclouds.” The single follows previous singles (“Genius” and “Audio,” respectively) ahead of LSD’s upcoming album.
The video stars Maddie Ziegler, who has appeared in Sia’s videos for “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart,” who is shown gracing a pink and orange tinged skyline with her powerful interpretive dance moves. As she continues dancing atop a soaring vehicle, which is piloted by a carnivalesque cabbie in Diplo, Labrinth cruises alongside in a tiny cloud as a Ghandi sidekick of sorts. Sia is seen as an omnipotent figure who herself appears as a elusive marionette puppet, driving the song’s forward momentum with her iconic vocals.
It’s unclear whether all of the performers are actually dosed up on playful, imaginary fun or mind-altering substances. That’s up to the viewer to decide. But one thing is certain: Labrinth, Sia, and Diplo have officially begun their ascent into the pop culture public eye — and they’re bringing psychedelica to new international heights.
