Avicii & Mac Miller among top Google search terms in 2018

The passing of a great musician is not just all-too-common these days, it’s becoming a taboo. Perhaps dialogue needs to opened around the music industry, mental health, and the tortured artist condition. But for all intents and purposes, we-the-people of the internet seem to be enamored by it all. So much so, that Google recently revealed in their 2018 search trends “Avicii” and “Mac Miller” were among the top five search inquiries of the past year, right behind “World Cup.”

Seven of the top 10 most-used search terms were also individuals who passed away this year: Stan Lee, Anthony Bourdain, XXXTentacion, Stephen Hawking, and Kate Spade.
