Midweek Mantra Mix 005: Let Mersiv’s Moment Downtempo Mixtape take you deep into yogic meditation

Wednesday is humpday, which not only marks the halfway point between the work week and the coveted weekend, but also Conscious Electronic’Midweek Mantra Mix (M3). We’ve been scouring the web’s most enlightening bass music mixes that align with our vision, to provide “a conscious way to consume dance music.” M3 spotlights both veteran and up-and-coming bass music artists whose music seeks to raise the vibrations of their collective listener base.

Coming as the fifth transmission in our M3 series is Mersiv‘s heady, heavy journey into lower frequencies, soothing downtempo, and enlivening high ranges. Dubbed “A Mersiv Moment Downtempo Mixtape,” the entire 50-minute mix wastes no time in delving deep into the spiritual domain with a yoga savasana right up front.

Mersiv wiki, Mersiv bio, Mersiv newsAfter easing listeners into a pure meditative state right out of the gate, the Denver-based producer unloads tons of his original downtempo tracks, alongside some unique mash-ups, before building up to seminal bass and glitch tracks in Tipper’s “Flares At Dawn,”  Wheelton’s “Doomsday,” Rilathon’s “Creature Within,” and IVES’ “Revive.” He even throws in a new ID before he bookends the mix with an outro guided meditation. The result is a listener whose more in tune with their senses and their thoughts, all courtesy of Mersiv’s gifted mixing abilities.

Bass music, in particular, has gained a reputation for being one of the more spiritual genres in dance music, often utilizing heady sampling and extreme low ends. That’s not to discredit trance or house or any other genre—for all music transcends thought, offering a portal way into the spiritual realm (via altered chemicals in our brains upon sensory exposure). But Mersiv takes this a step further in a more blatant way.

Take the very meaning of moniker, Mersiv, which is an adjective meaning “having a complete mental, physical, and spiritual embracement to the present moment of sound.” With this framework at the bedrock of all his production and mixing, Mersiv is able to create music that becomes a discovery of oneself through music. That is precisely what makes him a perfect addition to our Midweek Mantra Mix.
