DEKAI delivers a dose of the ethereal realm on newest single, ‘Mantra’

When we last checked in with bass newcomer DEKAI, the Salt Lake City producer was coming off the spring release of his track, “Call Of The Ancients,” which won Lucidity Festival’s original song contest. Eclipsed with ancient tribal instrumentation and soothing organic tones, the track resonates deeply on a soul level — somewhere in between Ganja White Knight, CloZee, and Charlesthefirst.

Now DEKAI has returned with another endearing track, titled “Mantra,” out now on  TIMEWHEEL Records. Characterized by indigenous chanting, warm flutes, and crisp percussive elements, it’s the stuff that will one can move and groove to, all while finding that inner “chee.” DEKAI has said he means to produce tracks that are reflective, meditative and yet heavy. He certainly hits that mark here. Perhaps the best portion of the song comes during the final drop where listeners are catapulted into an entirely new layer. It’s a wholly immersive sound terrain with heavy grinding synths, yet nevertheless relaxing. It feels almost as if one has been dropped off into the underworld.
