Diplo to launch house-focused music label, Higher Ground
Diplo is nothing short of a dance music mogul, that’s nothing new. Recently the Mad Decent label head released a house-inspired EP, Higher Ground, with a four-to-the-floor gusto that would receive a remix by Kaskade. Now Diplo will be launching a house music platform by the same name to showcase both established and rising talent in the genre.
“House is where it all came from. Everything we know and love as dance music today started with the masters in Chicago and Detroit almost forty years ago,” Diplo says of the label launch. “The genre has always been incredibly important to me, and Higher Ground is our homage to the legends and opportunity to champion new sounds and artists from around the world pushing the genre forward.”
The imprint’s debut release will come from Brooklyn-based house duo Walker & Royce, who’ve been popular Dirtybird Players up to this point. The double-single, titled “Rave Grave,” is set to land September 4.
