M83 is set to release their next full-length album, DSVII, later this month and now the Grammy-nominated trio has released the LP’s first single. The track, titled “Temple of Sorrow,” is frontman Anthony Gonzalez’s attempt to show off the strange and seductive direction the French three-piece act is taking nowadays.
The tune serves as the first installment of Extazus, a three-part short film inspired by the music of DSVII and helmed by French experimental director Bertrand Mandico. Additional music video installments will be released weekly ahead of DSVII‘s release so that fans can piece together the larger story that the album is attempting to tell. The forthcoming project, which lands September 20, is a sequel to 2007’s Digital Shades Vol. 1.
