Ekali shares new Illenium collaboration at Red Rocks, ‘Hard To Say Goodbye’
When Alison Wonderland took over Red Rocks Amphitheatre last month for her Temple of Wonderland debut, the evening’s supporting lineup was strong with Ekali, Medasin, and Wuki. Before Wonderland took the stage, Ekali brought the house down with his directly opening act, during which time the Vancouver native delivered a more recent version of his unreleased collaboration with Illenium.
The pair first teased the then-unnamed single on Twitter last spring, then identified the track as “Hard To Say Goodbye” when Illenium came out to surprise the EDC Las Vegas crowd and help close out Ekali’s Circuit Grounds set. So the track has been in the studio pipelines for some time now with many predicted that it may even arrive on Illenium’s Ascend LP. That turned out to not be the case. As one might expect, “Hard To Say Goodbye” falls right into the melodic with its soft and slow beginning before building in tempo through its percussive progression.
With no official word on when the track will see its wide release, anticipation has been surmounting in the sad boy fanbase. Illenium is currently on his Ascend tour while Ekali is continuing his rounds on the festival circuit. Both artists will appear at Lost Lands Music Festival in Legends Valley, Ohio next weekend, September 27 – 29.
