Gravitas mainstay David Starfire channels manifestation, meditation, and holotropic breathwork on 6-track ‘Future Self’ EP [STREAM]
Previously held up by BBC Radio and Billboard as a pioneer of the global bass genre, David Starfire has been praised as one of the most brilliant world-fusion producers of our time. The Gravitas mainstay has performed at festivals the world over, including Coachella, Outside Lands, Burning Man, Eclipse, and Lightning in a Bottle, to name a few. Recently, Starfire even curated and released a label benefit compilation, Circulate Vol. 1, where 100% of net proceeds went to funding an after-school music education program.
Now, the prolific world producer pulls out the next project from out of his vault in the form of the 6-track Future Self EP. Throughout Future Self, David Starfire’s artistry stems from areas such as Bulgaria, the Middle East, Australia, India, and Africa to transport listeners into a cinematic and ethereal universe that merges with dubstep, trap, and global bass sounds.
I named it ‘Future Self’ because of the internal work that I’ve been doing with myself over the past year.” – David Starfire
Along the way, Starfire engages three remixes, with Zebbler Encanti Experience, Dissolv, and SOOHAN, and three collaborations with musicians across the globe, including Bulgarian and Mumbai vocalists, a master oud player, and an Australian world-renown didgeridoo player.
“It’s about visualization and manifestation to create what I want for my future self,” Starfire tells thatDROP in an exclusive interview. “It’s also key to stay present and not get distracted, especially with social media. I’ve been using holotropic breathwork, meditation, and other methods to create my ‘Future Self’ and also have incorporated these modalities with my music production.”
To truly capture the cinematic universe that Future Self resides within, David Starfire enlisted the help of digital artist Beeple for the album’s cover art, who has notably worked with artists such as Imagine Dragons, deadmau5, Skrillex, ZEDD, Taio Cruz, Amon Tobin, Wolfgang Gartner, and more.
David Starfire is currently on his Future Self tour with stops in California, North Carolina, and Oregon. Stream and download his Future Self via Gravitas Recordings.
