While Insomniac fans recently got the worst news of the year with EDC Las Vegas 2020’s cancellation, owner Pasquale Rotella would at least attempt to soothe the burn a bit. That consolation came in the form of the newest edition of Insomniac Events’ Virtual Rave-a-Thon, two days of sets from Nocturnal Wonderland‘s favorite artists.
This past weekend, artists from far and wide traveled to Insomniac’s headquarters in Los Angeles where they were greeted by Rotella and his team of disinfectors to a socially distant rave of shorts. The event also included Insomniac’s stellar team of videographers and stage designers, all of whom transformed a room into a visually immersive personal rave cave for Rotella. Those artists included 12th Planet, Champagne Drip, Arty, and Born Dirty, along with newcomers Jason Ross, Ship Wreck, Z-trip, JVNA, and more.
The standout set came from Hooks of Zeds Dead, which Pasquale called the longest set of the weekend at one-hour-and-ten-minutes. The Deadbeats boss laid down the hammer with throwbacks from The Prodigy, Radiohead, Snoop Dogg, Kid Cudi, and remixes of Nero’s “Innocense,” Benny Bennassi’s “Satisfaction,” and Fatboy Slim’s “Praise You.” The set also featured plenty of Zeds Dead originals, including “Sound of the Underground” with Urbandawn, “Into The Abyss” with REZZ, an ID with Yultron, and an older classic in “Rude Boy.” View the full setlist on 1001Tracklists, here.
