Wakaan officially postpones 2020 installment of Wakaan Festival

When Liquid Stranger‘s acclaimed imprint, Wakaan, announced their first iteration of Wakaan Music Festival at Mulberry Mountain, the festival immediately made headlines. The inaugural event was a long time coming too, especially considering the Wakaan family sold out the three-day festival in its first year. The production staff deserves recognition too as the festival raised the bar on every level from logistics to sound and lighting. That’s why CE named the event on of our top five breakout festivals of 2019.

Now Wakaan has announced that their highly-anticipated second year will have to wait until 2021 as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues to stifle the global live music industry.

“Due to COVID-19 we will be postponing the 2020 Wakaan Music Festival and hope to return in 2021,” organizers write in a public statement. “The decision was based on a multitude of different variables, but health and safety are the main reasons. We feel that it’s better to heed caution than force this and potentially put you, the artists, and the staff in jeopardy.”

The next interaction of Wakaan Music Festival is currently set to take place September 29 – October 2, 2021. Read the full statement below.
